
I joined the Gulu City Marathon 2025 to prove to myself that I couldovercome fear and self-doubt. A year ago, I struggled with confidenceand rarely participated in public activities. Training for the marathonwas not easy — there were days I wanted to quit because of fatigue andbusy work schedules.
Gulu is one of Uganda’s hidden gems, rich in culture, food, warm people, and breathtaking terrain. It is among the flattest regions in the country, making it a runner’s quiet paradise. The city balances modern metropolitan life with deeply rooted rural traditions. Just minutes from the city center, you can spot community settlements crowned with grass-thatched rooftops, a beautiful reminder that heritage still thrives here.
