Gulu City Marathon FAQs

1. When and where is the marathon held?
The Gulu City Marathon will take place on Saturday, December6, 2025. All races start and finish at Kaunda Grounds in Gulu City, with theroute winding through key landmarks, historic neighbourhoods, and vibrant GuluCentral market.
2. What race categories are available?
There are four distance options to suit every levelincluding a wheelchair race:
• FullMarathon (42 km)
• HalfMarathon (21 km)
•10 kmRace
• 5 kmFun Run
Each finisher receives a medal and commemorative T-shirt.
3. How and when can I register?
Registration is open online via the official Gulu City Marathon website https://www.gulucitymarathon.com/register-now. You’ll choose your distance, complete your personal details, and pay the entry fee.
4. What are the registration fees and deadlines?
• UGX60,000 (applicable to all distances/disciplines)
• Deadlineto be communicated.
5. Who is eligible to participate?
Any person below the age 16 shall only participate in the 5km run. Participants must be at least 18 years to enter the half or fullmarathon.
6. Are there cut-off and time-limit policies?
Yes, to ensure safety and road-traffic coordination:
• 10 km:2 hours
• Half Marathon: 4 hours
• Full Marathon: 6 hours Any runner who falls behind will be directed off course and provided transport back to the finish.
8. How do I collect my race kit?
Race kits—including bib (with timing chip) and official kit—shall be distributed during the official kit pickup days in Kampala and Gulu. Please carry along your registration confirmation and ID.
9. What on-course support is available?
The marathon provides:
• Water, soda and fruits
• Medical tents with first-aid teams at key points
• Mobile medics on motorbikes
10. Is there post-race recovery?
After you finish, head to the recovery zone for:
• Post-race massage and physio
• Refreshments(water)
• Stretching and cool-down spaces
11. How does the charity component work?
Ten percent of all race proceeds will go to fund the Martin Aliker Youth Skilling Centre in Abole. Participants can also opt to make additional donations.
12. What is the refund or deferral policy?
All entries are non-refundable and not deferred.
13. How will race results and certificates be shared?
Official timing is managed by FinishTime. Live results are posted online on race day, and downloadable certificates become available within 48 hours on the marathon website under “Results & Certificates.”
